Status Report is for April 11, 2008

DESCRIPTION:
Widen two miles of Heckscher Drive (Drummond Point to August
Drive) to a four-lane urban section with curbs and gutters,
bike lanes, a sidewalk and replace the existing two-lane bridge.
STATUS:
Current Activity: DESIGN PHASE: Right-of-way
acquisition is complete.. Coordination effors are continuing
with the FDOT and Jaxport. Permitting efforts are complete.
The bid package is being prepared for advertisement in April
2008. Revised plans will allow for a separate project for an
overpass at a new proposed port facility.
A public meeting was held on Monday, April 9 at the Oceanway
Community Center. JTA unvieled design plans for the widening
of Heckscher Drive (Zoo Parkway) between August Drive and Drummond
Point from two lanes to four lanes, and the replacement of bridges
over the Broward River and Dunn Creek.

Funding: Revised BJP Program allocation is
$46.93 million, including State SIS funding of $16.3 million
in State FY 2009/10, and Federal funding of $6.1 million.
Schedule: Design is scheduled for completion
in the firstquarter of 2008. Right-of-way acquisition is complete.
The construction contract is planned to be advertised in April
2008.
DBE/MBE
DBE participation will conform with JTA policy. The design contract
is expected to include 19% DBE participation.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES:
FY 09/10 programming of FDOT funds for construction. Potential
for an overpass or underpass along Heckscher Drive between Drummond
and Broward Points.
