Service Enhancement
Bus Service
JTA continues to make our existing services better and more
efficient. We are looking at ways to reduce the number of routes
while still providing connectivity throughout our region. By
developing an enhanced mass transit system that provides frequent
service in five to ten minutes intervals, JTA will make transit
a more viable option and pleasurable experience for all users.
Skyway Expansion
Building a downtown mobility system that will connect people
to employment and activity centers on both sides of the St.
Johns River is part of JTA's vision in expanding the downtown
Skyway and Trolley services.
A new Skyway station is being planned for Riverside, allowing
for service to the business centers along Riverside Avenue.
The new station also will allow for possible expansion connecting
with the 200 Riverside transit-oriented development project.
The station will be located outside the JTA Skyway Operations
and Maintenance center, directly across from the Florida Times-Union
building. Expanded trolley service will connect with the system,
allowing more connectivity on Riverside Avenue, the Five Points
area, Avondale and Ortega.
Trolley Expansion
In addition to expanding service into the Riverside and Avondale
areas, JTA is also planning expansion service into the Springfield
and San Marco neighborhoods. Expanding the trolley service into
these burgeoning historic districts will provide additional
connectivity throughout Jacksonville's Downtown and a vital
link between home, work and play. The trolley service will be
the primary downtown transit circulator.
